Locality budgets
Did you know our councillors have Locality Budgets to help fund much needed community driven projects. Last year there were 165 applications – helping find community groups, activities, and small-scale projects that make a big difference for residents. Each of our 64 councillors has £2,800 a year as part of this scheme – an investment of approximately £179,200 annually.
Cllr Susan Glossop used money from her Locality Funding to help get a new parkrun off the starting blocks. Parkrun is inclusive and for all. Participants can come along, be part of a community, and run, jog or walk the 5km course for free, every Saturday morning.
The new parkrun located at West Stow Country Park has been backed with £4,500 of funding from West Suffolk Council as part of its strategic priority for Thriving Communities.

The funds include £2,700 from the council’s revenue budget for the park, £1,000 from money allocated to the council from the Government’s UK Shared Prosperity Fund and £800 from Cllr Glossop’s West Suffolk Council Locality Budget.
Cllr Glossop, whose Risby Ward includes West Stow Country Park, added: “This wonderful initiative brings together people of all ages and abilities. It is a supportive community that encourage people to get active which is good for their mental and physical health. I am delighted to be able to support this.”
The spreadsheets below show what has been spent by each councillor. Councillors are working with communities all the time and the spreadsheets do not reflect agreements that are still to be processed. They also don't reflect any current discussions that councillors may be having with their local communities about other funding options.
