Elections for the Police and Crime Commissioner (PCC) for the Suffolk Police Area will be held on Thursday 2 May 2024.

Following changes introduced by the Elections Act, the first past the post system will be used for PCC elections, replacing the Supplementary Vote system used previously. This means that voters will have one vote for the candidate of their choice and the candidate with the most votes will be elected.

The election count will take place on Friday 3 May and each borough and district council will count the ballot papers for its area and produce a local total. The results will be collated by West Suffolk Council and a Suffolk result will be announced at West Suffolk House on Friday 3 May.

Electors do not need to register to vote before every election, however if they have not registered before or have changed their name, address or nationality, they will need to register to vote. The deadline to register to vote for the upcoming PCC election is Tuesday 16 April 2024. To register to vote, visit: GOV.UK - Register to vote.
