Newmarket jobs and skills fair stalls

For those looking for a new job or opportunity to improve their skills, West Suffolk Council is collaborating with the department for Work and Pensions to run their second Newmarket Jobs and Skills fair of the year.

The Newmarket fair will take place on Tuesday 17 September at Newmarket Memorial Hall from 10am to 12pm.

The fair will serve as a fantastic chance for residents of West Suffolk looking for a new job or change in career to network and meet with future employers, all of which will have vacancies they are hoping to fill.

Individuals will be able to find out more about the variety of roles on offer and ask any questions they may have.

There will be a range of career options that those in attendance can consider, with sectors including healthcare, manufacturing, emergency response and retail having stalls.

Not only is the jobs and skills fair great for those seeking a job, but also individuals wishing to improve their skill set. There will be numerous skills services and advisors present, including representatives from Menta, Multiply Suffolk, Suffolk Apprenticeships and Thrive (the Suffolk Skills and Employment Service), who will all have advice or training options available.

Businesses looking to improve the skills-set of their workforce will also be able to liaise with local skills providers to discover what training or skills opportunities are on offer.

Cllr Indy Wijenayaka, Cabinet member for Growth said: “The West Suffolk jobs and Skills fairs are a great chance to bring together local people and businesses to suit the needs of the district and I am thrilled the fair is back in Newmarket. Through the fair we can promote employment opportunities and sustainable growth in our area and support skills development available to the workforce and businesses.”

There are two more jobs and skills fairs coming up this year as part of the West Suffolk Business Festival, one on Wednesday 2 October, 10am - 12pm at Haverhill Arts Centre and another on Wednesday 9 October, 10am - 12.30pm, at the Apex in Bury St Edmunds. Additional information about the festival and other events can be found on the West Suffolk Business Festival website.
