Makers markets return to West Suffolk with exciting opportunities for shoppers and traders

Starting in March, the popular makers markets will be returning to Haverhill, Bury St Edmunds and Newmarket.

The 2025 makers markets kicks off with the Haverhill makers market on Saturday 1 March from 9am to 3pm, followed by Bury St Edmunds on Sunday 2 March from 10am to 3pm. Newmarket’s makers market will return on Saturday 8 March from 9am to 3pm. 

Both the Haverhill and Newmarket makers markets will be hosted alongside their regular town markets, where many stallholders have been trading for over 40 years.

Throughout the year, shoppers can explore an incredible array of handcrafted and homemade products including sweet treats, hot food, woodcraft, artwork, homeware, needlecraft, candles, soaps, and much more.

With live music and family craft activities, local communities will be able to enjoy the inclusive and vibrant atmosphere, suitable for the whole family.

Cllr Indy Wijenayaka, Cabinet Member for Growth at West Suffolk Council, said: "Markets play a vital role in our community, attracting visitors and shoppers to our towns, boosting the local economy and providing a platform for entrepreneurs to showcase and sell their products. With over 100 small businesses participating in the makers markets across the three towns, the diversity of talent on display is truly inspiring."

Sharon Rodrigues from Pot Doodle, a trader at both the regular and makers markets, said: “Both the regular market and makers markets have such a friendly and supportive community. I really enjoy speaking to the locals that stop by my stall as well as welcoming new visitors to our West Suffolk towns. Stop by your local market and discover new and unique products that you can’t find anywhere else!”
