Not long left to book for magical, Christmas family experience
20 Nov 2023
With just a fortnight to go until Peter and the Wolf Live opens in Bury St Edmunds, there’s not long left to book for this magical, Christmas family experience.
Around 3,000 tickets have already been sold for Peter and the Wolf Live which take place from Thursday 7 December to Sunday 10 December.
Set in an all-weather auditorium in the stunning Abbey Gardens in Bury St Edmunds, children and adults alike will enjoy an Oscar® winning modern retelling of Peter and the Wolf, accompanied by live performances from the fantastic Orpheus Sinfonia.
And Children under five can delight in the experience for free, although they must have a ticket and be accompanied by an adult.
An inspirational story of a child finding their own inner strength and courage to overcome adversity, this modern adaption by Breakthru Films, recreates Russian composer Sergei Prokofiev’s 1936 classic symphonic fairy tale.
Peter and the Wolf Live is being organised by West Suffolk Council as part of the Christmas in Bury St Edmunds partnership of events and activities.
Cllr Indy Wijenayaka, Cabinet Member for Growth at West Suffolk Council, said: “Christmas has officially begun. We have just seen the town bustling with people for the Christmas lights switch-on organised by Our Bury St Edmunds and the arc. And there’s not long left until Peter and the Wolf Live opens, offering a magical, memorable experience for families across our West Suffolk communities to enjoy.”
“We are delighted to be putting on Peter and the Wolf Live as part of the wider mix of festive fun organised by the Christmas in Bury St Edmunds partnership. These activities which take place from now right across the five weeks up to Christmas, will encourage people across West Suffolk and visitors to the area, to come along, have a good time, and support the shops, cafes, restaurants, and other local businesses.”
“It’s also another example of the wonderful mix of leisure and cultural activity taking place, that makes West Suffolk a great place to visit all year around, but an even better place to live and work.”
“So, book now for Peter and the Wolf Live and I look forward to seeing many people whether they are local residents or visitors to the area, coming along and enjoying these performances.”
Town businesses will be running food trucks and a licensed bar for anyone wanting a bite to eat and drink during the performance while people coming to Peter and the Wolf Live are also encouraged to visit the shops and support the other town centre businesses including restaurants and cafés.
Tickets for Peter and the Wolf cost £15 for adults, £8 for children aged between five to 15, while under-fives get in free but must have a ticket and be accompanied by an adult.
