Community governance review (CGR) - St Edmundsbury Borough

During 2015 and 2016, St Edmundsbury Borough Council looked at changes to boundaries and other electoral matters which will make local democracy better. This was called a Community Governance Review (CGR) and it looked at parish electoral arrangements.

The council has now completed the CGR. You can view the decision notices and see the St Edmundsbury (Reorganisation of Community Governance) Order 2016 which was made in relation to changes to be introduced in 2017 and the St Edmundsbury (Reorganisation of Community Governance) Order 2018 which was made in relation to changes to be introduced in 2018.

The Local Government Boundary Commission for England (LGBCE) agreed to make related alterations to existing county boundaries and these came into effect on 1 April 2017. See The St Edmundsbury (Electoral Changes) Order 2017.

The LGBCE carried out an Electoral review of ward boundaries for the new West Suffolk Council during 2018 and published the West Suffolk (Electoral Changes) Order 2018. The review took into account the above changes made to parish boundaries.
